But why Ellen?
Ellen Macarthur is a British sailor. Her favourite expression? “à donf” which can be seen written on her boat. A sportswoman and environmentalist, we love her first and foremost for her courage. She is not afraid to face the ocean alone. Ellen has had many sporting exploits: she finished second in the Vendée Globe race in 2001, won the Route du Rhum in 2002 and then broke the record for the solo round the world sailing race in 2005. Just that!
Beyond being an exceptional sportswoman, in 2003, she founded the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust association, with the aim of getting sick children sailing.
Ecology is also a subject close to her heart: in 2010, she created the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. This organization's mission is to accelerate the transition to the circular economy . In a few years, the organization became influential and managed to place the circular economy on the agenda of business leaders, governments and academic research on the international scene.
